A new clean and modern website
Through a highly respected Lancashire based advertising and marketing company, we were contracted to re-design and re-develop an ageing and out of date website for Bury Market.
On numerous occasions, Bury Market have been voted ‘Market of the Year’ and take great pride in their prestigious position.
They needed a clean and professional website with easy navigation and accessibility options for visitors browsing the website with visual disabilities.
An interactive map and stall directory was needed for customers to pre-plan their visit. We built the interactive Map utilising SVG (Scaleable Vector Graphics) and jQuery for the animation. This makes it much lighter than using Flash and also more accessible for viewing on tablets and mobile devices.
Traditional feel with a strong focus on accessibility
Bury Market is steeped in history having been established in the 14th century, so we wanted to use a simple design with a slight antique look and feel to the site.
Using a section of the main wrought iron market entrance sign we incorporated this into a rebrand of the Bury Market logo specifically for the website. We also choose a slab font which complimented the antique look.
Adhering to strict accessibility guidelines was an important area for Bury Market visitors browsing the website with visual disabilities.
We wanted to keep the navigation as simple as possible and created 6 visual sections on the homepage to allow navigation to the main areas of the site along with a main navigation and search section in the header.
