An EMPLOYEE of the substation
What can I say,
Apart from a dead atmosphere, a poor quality of food. Oh and not to mention a poor manager.
After my time there, I must say I will never return. It’s not a surprise to me that this is a failing business. A business that has run out of steam and no longer is a happy, cheap and friendly place to stay and eat. You might ask how I have come to this conclusion, this is not because I have left on bad terms, and this is not even because I feel I was mistreated, but it is a warning to those who decide to dine there. Why bother wasting your money and highly priced rubbish. It’s why I am glad that the Chestnut Pub is opening in Wednesbury, maybe this will help with the long awaited closure of the Substation Cafe.
I guess you’d like to hear about my time in the cafe.
Well, one story, that is still a problem is with the fish water, let’s just say when food is prepared and stored the fish water is close by. Not only this, but the cafe I don’t this is aware of how to store food correctly. For example a chicken breast was stored on top of fresh mushrooms. salmonella anyone. Oh and the heating, which is meant to be broke. Fact is, it’s not broke but it can’t be afforded.
It makes me wonder how this place is still open. Health Hazard in all fairness.
NEW MANAGEMENT RECOMMENDED because at the moment this place is a food disaster zone.

Best fish and chips I have tasted my first visit we sat inside the cafe section and found staff friendly and polite. Fish was very fresh and batter light and crispy were also delicious When i fancy some fish and chips now i send my hubby in the car to the substation to get them Well worth the petrol. I have since recommended the substation to family and friends
