My job often takes me travelling abroad which doesn't allow me to visit a high-street remittance service if there are none in the country I've visited. In 2006, I learnt about Senvia by browsing online to find a remittance service that would suit my requirements and have been using senvia ever since. I had to visit the premises in Birmingham to register but once I had the accounts set up, I have not been back there or had any problems with sending money to Jamaica. Senvia allows me to send money directly from my Online UK Bank account directly to my family's bank account in Jamaica. I don't know whether my family gets a good exchange rate in Jamaica for the money I sent, but the convenience of sending money this way is priceless. It means I can send money at any time of day whether it is a weekend or not. The money simply gets debited and sent the next working day and as we are six hours ahead of Jamaica, they are guaranteed to receive it on the same day. Sadly, sending money this way means you don't always get a thank you from the recipients. They either think its magic or its God who sent it. In any event, I rate this service highly and would recommend it to anyone who requires the convenience of sending money without having to visit the high-street for a remittance service. I've stopped short of giving Senvia a five star rating because of my doubts that the exchange rate through the banks is likely to be fair.
