i live in sunderland so this shop should have been great for me. i read the first review & thought maybe it was a one off or the buyer caught the owner on a bad day, hey it happens! i did not feel welcome in this shop. i dont know if it was because im female & this seemed like a blokes shop or whatever it was but the first reviewer was right theres no obvious deals to be had from here & after reading the first review i was too scared to ask. i went to deep blue instead & they offered me a good discount saving over nearly £100 on this guys prices on the £1100 i spent. its a much bigger shop (this one is like a telephone box) if youve got too much money & you dont like discount go here otherwise id say try somewhere else

after a couple years away from diving i'd finally found a break in work meant i had at least 9 months to myself to pursue my all time greatest hobby again. trouble was i'd sold or given away most of my old kit so it was start from scratch again but i'd taken a liking to the hogarthian/dir style so i decided to follow that route & build all my new kit up from scratch & enjoy the next 9 months before i had to return to work. i decided to start with a dui suit then backplate/harness & work from there. my dui was'nt too cheap but now i've tried one i would'nt use any other suit - brilliant! i saw a nice looking backplate online advertised by Sunderland Scuba Centre about 10 miles from my location so i took a drive over to check them out. . . . . . what a waste of time! this backplate was under £80 & with the credit crunch & every dive centre in the country offering great deals i decided to buy the plate & hopefully build a rapport with the shop owner & put all my business his way for a decent discount. . . Not so! the owner of this little business said to me thats £80.20. i said its advertised at something like £78 online? he replied 'yeah we deliberatley overcharge on postage for the online customers so it's £80.20 to you, normally i'd just leave a shop that had that attitude toward their customers but i'd travelled 10 miles with £80 in my back pocket & had a pound in the car for the tunnel fee so this was all i had on me since i'd left my wallet at home, i said ok, can you make it the £80 & forget about the 20p then & i'll take it? NAT! £80.20p is what you're going to pay. . . . you can see where this is going cant you? useless service from the worst salesman in the history of scuba diving, bad manners, expensive kit, & no chance of a good deal from this rubbish shop! GO ELSEWHERE if you've got a brain! this shop will be closed in a couple of years because of the customer service so if you put your money into it dont expect any back up service,
greed & repeat trade just dont go well together - Avoid this shop!
