A food experience like no other, it is truly like going to a friends house for meal, especially as you are only provided with the food and drinks that appeal to the owner - no bad thing!

Dont try ordering a beer or New Zealand wine, only Italian wines here!

Rub up against the "style" of the place and you will hate it, go along with it and you will have a terrific meal (albeit an expensive one)

The owner, Chris Johnson, is clearly passionate about fine food and fine Italian wine. It is difficult to find European style food of this quality in the UK, and next to impossible at these prices. However, the real treasure is the wine list, comprised largely of obscure and almost unobtainable Italian wines. It is a privilege to be guided through such a bewildering array of unfamiliar names with such expertise. I would have been dubious about the sparkling red wine with desert and the Italian brandy, but by that stage I had learned to have what was recommended, and both were excellent.

I love this place. Chis, the owner, is quite eccentric but extremely knowledgeable about which foods go with which wines. Always a lovely atmosphere and the staff are very friendly. The food is absolutely beautiful and the presentation looks fantastic. Not a big Al a Carte restaurant but quite thankful for that as you don't get forgotton about. You are welcomed with a glass of champagne (or fizzy wine!) and appertiser on arrival.

Been here twice, but I must say, it's the best restaurant we've ever been to. The food isn't what you would see in a traditional italian restaurant, you definately won't find a pizza or Spagetti Bolognese here! Absolutely beautiful food, worthy of all it's awards, and the owner knows everything there is to know about wine. The "Hideaway" downstairs serves food and wine also, but is less formal than the restaurant. We took our 2 year old, and although she was made welcome, there's no facilities for young children, no high chairs or menu. Still, that wouldn't put me off taking her again. I Loved it here and would go more often if i could afford to!
