Nice pub with nice food. Tucked out of the way in a beautiful location surrounded by fields, it's easy to forget you're only a couple of miles from the nearest town.
I've always been greeted with a warm welcome and the food has always been good honest pub food which is well priced

Nice welcome, good food and real ales. Everything a good pub should have and this has great views too.The staff are friendly and there always seems to be something going on from the local Rotary club meeting there to a 60's night. On Easter Sunday there is even a traditional Pace Egg Play in the car park. It seems ideal for young and old alike if my 92 year old mother and 3 year old grandson are any judges. Altogether a great family pub with just that little bit extra.

I guess this is my local pub, although a good walk from Smethurst Road..
Called in one Thursday night for a business meeting with Dylan, Al, and Damo..
We just wanted a quiet pint and a talk about some business stuff..
But Thursday night is quiz night, it was packed The landlady asked if we wanted to join in..
At first we said no thanks, then decided why not, can answer questions while talking..
Ended up with a good score, came joint 2nd i think, We now go every week ..
Its a great night out we won one week, With J.Stell and a couple of brothers who were good.
Been a few other nights and its always packed..

I have been to the Pack Horse over a dozen times in the last month now... so I guess I am becoming a regular.

Tucked away up Elbut Lane (Which turns into Birtle Road), the Pack Horse is a great country style pub / restaurant.

I also seem to end up here for quite a few business meetings now as the place is peaceful and comfy. The Brewery is JW Lees so the beer is good. The menu is probably the same in most JW Lees pubs, but the Pack Horse stands out with it's great chefs and wonderful food.

The staff are always very pleasant, jovial and welcoming.

The landlady is quite an authoritative lady, she reminds me of my old infant school teacher... But i love her, and i love her honesty when asking a question... You certainly know where you stand with her.

Thursday night is quiz night, its free to enter and you get a lovely FREE supper for entering (Lasagna & Chips, Curry / Chilli & rice etc). The quiz is 20 picture questions, 10 music questions and 40 general knowledge - Its definitely not an easy quiz so bring out your ringers... I turned up with my own team last week and won with 64 out of 70 questions... With all the free food I wouldn't have expected a prize, but the winning team get 8 tokens for 8 drinks at the bar :)

Maybe see you in there sometime!

Just love this pub, mixes the old with the new ,you feel as if you are in the heart of the countryside but just 5 minutes from the main road. The food is traditional menu pub grub , but good value , always hits the spot.
