There are a few species of stingray and the ones at the Sea life Centre in the open tank are most definitely the 'non dangerous' ones!! lol
Trust me, it's worth a visit just to spend time in this room! and bear in mind, Steve Irwin never blamed an animal who tried to attack him, he would just say they were protecting themselves and he was on their territory...they only attack if they feel threatened...but Blackpool's won't attack you, i'm sure of it, they are curious and attention seeking!!!...and even if they did, humans rarely die from their sting! :D

Stroking Stingrays, They are the fish that killed Steve Irwin......
This guy wrestled crocodiles, hunted lions, played with venomous snakes.
You would not see me stroking a Stingray

This centre only takes about half an hour to walk around so in that sense it is a little disappointing, but you can go back into it and stay as long as you like.
There are a good range of fish and sea creatures to see, and the rock pool area is quite fascinating if you spend time handling the creatures. there is always a member of staff in this area who is more than happy to talk about each sea creature and they are all very knowledgeable about their subject.
The stingray pool is fabulous. These are very curious creatures and allow you to stroke them as they swim by. My daughter spent the majority of the time in this room, it was fascinating.
A little pricey for what you get but overall if you use your time well you can make your visit more interesting. The staff are happy to talk about anything you want to know, for as long as you need them.
