finally proper Beijing and sichuan food has come to Manchester , with a decent wine list to boot
but for an even better experience try their branch on oxford road near the infirmary, the Portland street branch is somewhat cramped, the oxford road branch is spacious, and also serves genuine Beijing duck, not the rancid impostor known as crispy aromatic duck. super spicy poached fish is another of my favourites as are the cold dishes traditionally served up as starters. this is the best Chinese restaurant in Manchester in my book (we now have several good ones) and my only criticism of the restaurant is serving up red wine at 23 degrees (the temperature i think they keep the restaurant at) instead of the 13-16 degrees it should be served at.
some of the food can be VERY spicy , but if you are European they will only do this if you ask them , indeed if you like it spicy best to tell them as they have a tendency to tone down the spice for European customers
