Paid my first visit to the G last night - £165 poker tournament.

My first impressions of the place were excellent. In all honesty I just assumed it would be a bit of dive being so close to Strangeways, and without sounding like an idiot here, I just had this feeling it would be full of plastic wanabe gangsters. I couldn’t have been further from the truth, the decor was nice, new and fashionable… Probably one of the cleanest casinos I have been in for a while. The staff were all excellent and very friendly.

At the table, everybody seemed very welcoming and happy… I just spent 4 years in LA playing the commerce and the Bicycle, so this place was like a breath of fresh air for me… Poker without shootings and fights – is this normal?

My poker was all over after a few hours, so I decided to do a little mingling as my friends were still in the game… everybody I spoke to was great... It has a real friendly feel to the place, and people are happy to talk.

I do feel like the tournament director “Chris” deserves a special mention as he was very good. He looks fairly young but I can see him having a very bright future in the gaming industry… Great people person, has his finger on the pulse, fair, sharp and manages his team perfectly.

A great casino – and I am £610 up.
