FOOD HYGIENE ALERT!
This is the worst Indian takeaway restaurant I have ever come across in my life! My husband & I ordered takeaway from Spice Balti last night - we ordered two curries, two pilau rice, and some bindi bhaji. The food arrived quite quickly and it tasted fine at the time. My husband had chicken jalfrezi...four hours later and he was vomiting violently. This continued throughout the night, and it wasn't until a good 15 hours later that he felt well enough to leave his bed and attempt to drink some Lucozade.
I called Spice Balti to complain, and I was horrified by the way I was spoken to. The manager (supposedly) picked up the phone, and when he realised I was complaining about food poisoning, his attitude became appalling. I told him I would be calling the Environmental Health Office if he did not at least offer us a refund. He proceeded to tell me, in a very uncaring and arrogant way, that if I wanted the money back, then he wanted the food back. WHAT A MORON! I explained that the food had been EATEN, hence the food poisoning my husband had experienced. He then told me he didn't care what I did (he sounded stoned/drunk at this point), and that I was welcome to call the EHO because apparently they'd only been in 3 days ago for an inspection, and passed with flying colours. HA!
This man, who called himself the manager, spoke in such an uneducated and uncaring way, I can only assume it is not his own restaurant, and he was just left in charge for the evening. I say this because I cannot imagine why anyone would risk the reputation of their business for the sake of £20 worth of food and one angry customer. All I wanted was an apology and a refund, and instead I got an earful of abuse. I will never be eating their food again, and strongly advise you stay well clear.
